Uniroyal® Tire and Savings Expert Develop Year-Round Holiday Guide
GREENVILLE, S.C. — (April 19, 2010) — Most people love holidays, but don’t love the cost associated with celebrating them. Kim Danger, savings expert, mother of two and author of “Instant Bargains,” is collaborating with Uniroyal® Tire to share her latest e-book tips on inexpensive ways to make these celebrations memorable and less pricey. Filled with insider tips to make celebrations extra special, the e-book is available to download free at MoreMileage.UniroyalTires.com.
The e-book includes entertaining facts and tips for holiday fun that don’t empty your wallet. Danger’s top holidays featured in the e-book include: Valentine’s Day, Easter, Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving and winter holidays. Each holiday section gives ideas on crafts and activities, foods and treats, fun, family traditions and savings tips.
“Fourth of July is about celebrating our independence. Whether you’re having a huge celebration or a low-key get-together, money shouldn’t dictate how much fun you have,” said Danger. “It’s my hope to show people a few ways to enjoy a day filled with red, white and blue that doesn’t cost a lot of green.” When planning, keep these great frugal tips in mind:
- Use strawberries, blueberries and marshmallows to create a colorful, patriotic snack.
- Incorporate inexpensive activities such as a watermelon seed spitting contest, tie-dying patriotic shirts or a homemade outdoor bowling contest.
- Stock up on condiments early in the summer when they go on sale for added savings.
As summer turns to fall, another big holiday that can be heavy on the wallet is Thanksgiving. Here are some holiday suggestions to save money and bring your family closer.
- Get the kids involved by making festive napkin rings. You can use simple items already found in your home such as paper towel rolls, buttons, construction paper and glue.
- Bring giving thanks to the forefront by creating a blessing jar. Have each family member write something they are thankful for and put it in the jar.
- Limit extra air travel costs by packing snacks in your carry-on. Since you can’t bring drinks through airport security, take an empty thermos and fill it with water after being cleared.
