Inaugural PBA Uniroyal® Tire Classic Rolls Into Indy;
Uniroyal Makes Debut As PBA Tournament Sponsor Indianapolis, IN (March 4, 2004) — The PBA Uniroyal® Tire Classic is making its debut in Indianapolis, Ind. this week. More than 64 bowlers are competing for a total purse of $200,000. The finals, being held at Woodland Bowl, will be televised live on ESPN, Sunday, March 7 at 12:30 PM (ET). Title sponsorship of the Indianapolis tournament is part of Uniroyal's two-year exclusive agreement with the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA), which was announced in 2003. "Our association with Uniroyal Tire is a great fit because both of our organizations have such wonderful heritages," said Steve Miller, president and chief executive officer of the PBA. "Uniroyal has been providing high-quality, affordable tires to American drivers for more than 110 years and we cannot think of a better fit." In addition to the title sponsorship, the PBA Uniroyal Tire Classic will also highlight Uniroyal's team of bowlers, who are competing with other sponsor teams for the $100,000 PBA Tour Team Championship. The Uniroyal Tire team includes Michael Haugen, Jr., Brian Kretzer and Tony Reyes. "Indianapolis is such a great sports town and we're looking forward to an exciting week of bowling," said Tim Jamison, Uniroyal Tire brand director. "This tournament represents a chance for Uniroyal to highlight its involvement with the PBA and speak directly to our consumers via national television."
